Howtopia...

After my last post I began wondering how to achieve my own utopia. And then I came up with the term "Howtopia" ... catchy enough, uh? It's definite sellable, it sounds like the name of a website where you can find the howto for everything, it could even be a wiki-like site. The first thing I did was to check if howtopia.com was already taken. Guess what? It's taken (as well as howtopia.org), but there's no website at all.

Well, like many other times, my collection of neurons erupted with a good idea, a good name for it and it turns out that it was already thought by someone else. I ignore if the guy who registered the domain have that particular idea in mind, but at least came with the same name. I'm not disappointed by this actually, I'm not really keen on forming a start up based on such a concept, it could be profitable with a lot of work but it doesn't make me feel in love when I imagine myself creating a company like this.

But the point is... I'm trying here to have my own howtopia definition: "How to achieve my own utopia". The truth is: I don't have a clue for that kind of How-To, but if I want to become a writer I must try to write something every day. Even if it is such a lame post like this one.

PS: Finishing the post and proof-reading it, I came up with the idea of forming the site as a wiki and added the comment right away before definitely posting it. But I thought first, why not google it a little first? And it happened again!! It's done already!!

Utopia

Everyone should write their own utopia. I'm writing mine:

I love to write. I want to be a writer!
A successful rather anonymous one. The kind who people likes and buys his books, but can go out to have some ice cream or go to the movies without being noticed. Able to manage my own time. Spend time with my wife and kids. Exercise and take care of my health. Afford all my expenses, plus lots of traveling, go to nice restaurants and buy minor luxuries (iPods, Mac laptops, books, music, clothing, geek toys, lego, sound and video systems, fancy table games to play with my family and friends, etc). Contribute with some charity. And finally spare time as well for the geek in me by programming as a hobby, playing video games, and hang around Internet.

That's it... (Am I asking for too much?)

People I hate...

Well... I don't really hate people.. I just resent their attitudes. One in particular: Some people thinks their ideas are better that everybody else's, and consequently that makes them think they are actually better than the others... DUH!

People who are really superior to others:

1) DO NOT need to feel superior.
2) ARE superior by their acts and proven wisdom above their words.
3) MAKES YOU feel comfortable and respectful towards them.

Faith

Like love, I'm pretty sure nobody has an exact definition for it... It just comes along human nature to believe that we align our existence with deep thoughts and desires of wellness. Even further, this feelings are not just randomly emanated from our beings into the air, they're attached and directed to a highly superior existence normally named God (at least that's my case).

Everything can be achieved with faith... it's just sometimes it requires a bit more of it than usual.

You Matter

You matter (by Seth Godin)

When you love the work you do and the people you do it with, you matter.
When you are so gracious and generous and aware that you think of other people before yourself, you matter.
When you leave the world a better place than you found it, you matter.
When you continue to raise the bar on what you do and how you do it, you matter.
When you teach and forgive and teach more before you rush to judge and demean, you matter.
When you touch the people in your life through your actions (and your words), you matter.
When kids grow up wanting to be you, you matter.
When you see the world as it is, but insist on making it more like it could be, you matter.
When you inspire a Nobel prize winner or a slum dweller, you matter.
When the room brightens when you walk in, you matter.
And when the legacy you leave behind lasts for hours, days or a lifetime, you matter.

Passion... and Wisdom

You should always be driven first by passion... if there's something important in you life, like your job, like your family, like your couple... please never let yourself loose the passion about it...

If you're lucky enough to be passionate about someone or something... please, use your wisdom to take good care of it.

Back to good old plain black coffee

No sugar...
No sucralose... (tends to cancel the caffeine effects on me)
Simple...
Tasty...
Full of hours filled with awareness...

Curiously... there was a time where coffee didn't seem to be the solution of my drowsiness... my stomach even rejected caffeine ...

Now It's feel like me again... drinking heavy loads of delicious coffee, waking up my brains... and no negative side effect...

Excellent!!!

Mentor...

Like many other great words, "Mentor" comes from the Greek. In Homero's Illyad, Mentor was a friend of Odysseus. When Odysseus left for the Trojan War he placed Mentor in charge of his son, Telemachus.

At the start of my professional career I had couple of persons who I felt they were my Mentors and I was their Telemachus. Now that I look back, I realize they helped me to reach a peak of brilliance with their guidance in many aspects, and with their figure as a role model like an inspiration in many others.

Now, even though years have passed after having Mentors in my life, I feel that you always need to have a Mentor with you. No matter how good you are in anything, there's always someone better, wiser and more experienced.

The trick is that the Mentor-Telemachus relationship must evolve all the time for you, one has to take a good care of what your mentor gives you, but you must master the art to become the final mentor of yourself. Of course, humans are social beings, so I think one way to best achieve this should be taking a Telemachus for yourself once you feel you're ready and a good candidate finds you (I'm just guessing it should happens like this since I feel this kind of things happen only as matter of some sort of destiny).

In case you are wondering... Yes, I'd like to have mentor again ... In case you're wondering further... No, I'd like to reach certain level first to have a telemachus...

Imitation of life .... Beautiful Song...

Is about... life... just try it... it tastes great!!!

Imitation of Life - R.E.M

Charades, pop skill
Water hyacinth, named by a poet.
Imitation of life
Like a koi in a frozen pond
Like a goldfish in a bowl
I dont want to hear you cry

Thats sugarcane that tasted good
Thats cinnamon thats hollywood
Cmon cmon no one can see you try

You want the greatest thing
The greatest thing since bread came sliced.
Youve got it all, youve got it sized.
Like a friday fashion show teenager
Freezing in the corner
Trying to look like you dont try

Thats sugarcane that tasted good.
Thats cinnamon thats hollywood
Cmon cmon no one can see you try

No one can see you cry

Thats sugarcane that tasted good
Thats freezing rain thats what you could
Cmon cmon no one can see you cry

This sugarcane
This lemonade
This hurricane, Im not afraid.
Cmon cmon no one can see me cry
This lightning storm
This tidal wave
This avalanche, Im not afraid.
Cmon cmon no one can see me cry

Thats sugarcane that tasted good
Thats who you are, thats what you could
Cmon cmon no one can see you cry

Thats sugarcane that tasted good
Thats who you are, thats what you could
Cmon cmon no one can see you cry

The blog picture... (III)

I did a promise.

Now is sunrise!!! (In Prague ;-) <3 <3 <3)

The truth: The sun is rising...
More truth: I was too silly... There cannot be a sunrise without a night! Duh!! :-P

For you: Look well at the picture... feel the warmth of the sun light in the face, and the heat of the bodies wrapping each other... feel then the tears of joy we'll be sharing when this moment occurs (and it will occur!!)

A better truth....

Silence, Knowledge, Courage & Boldness... Truth!

I was told a lie.... I choose to believe it... until now...

Limits don't really exist.... They are just artificial :D

Restrained Love... A human state of soul

This is the Three Gorges Dam at the Yangtze river in China (biggest dam on earth):

Imagine it without any people making it work. Gigawatts and gigawatts of energy, not being produced. BUT THEY ARE STILL THERE!

Make yourself!

Human psique happens to be non-autopoietic for most indivuduals. I know a few, but most of us need a life project and a set of principles to guide it.
